DMC Tapestry Needles

A tapestry needle is the blunt one. The rounded point slips through the holes in Aida, evenweave linen and needlepoint canvas instead of piercing the threads, and the long oval eye takes several strands at once without shredding them - which is why counted work is done with these and not with a sharp embroidery needle. DMC make theirs in premium-grade nickel-plated steel, 1¾ to 2 inches long, and the numbering runs the way all needle sizing does: the higher the number, the finer the needle and the smaller the eye.

• 6 or 8 count canvas - size 18 or 20
• 10 or 11 count - size 20 or 22
• 14 count Aida / 28 count linen - size 24
• 16 count Aida / 32 count linen - size 26
• 18 count Aida / 36 count linen - size 28
